Because of their really poor goal difference, Nantes are effectively confirmed as being relegated back to ligue 2. This is a massive blow for Les Canaris and I expect the home fans will show their discontent in this match.

Supporters will be understandably angered that this ‘big’ club have once again failed to cut the mustard in ligue 1. If they suffer a bad start in this game then I expect a lot of whistles and jeering, the atmosphere will be thoroughly unpleasant for the players.

It looks like a decent chance for Auxerre to end the season strongly, but they have absolutely nothing to play for. They even know exactly what ligue position they’ll finish in (8th) and whatever happens here wont affect that.

AJA come into the match having won their last 6 consecutive games, so are deserving favourites.

I think they’ll probably extend that run facing a seemingly hopeless Nantes team that is doomed.
