Marseille v Rennes 30/5/09 (21:00 cet)

Marseille know that they have to win this match if they’re to have any chance of winning the ligue 1 title. They also need Caen to do them a massive favour against Bordeaux, but OM simply have to concentrate on themselves.

It could be a potentially difficult match facing a Rennes side who still have plenty to play for. Since the visitors lost in the Coupe de France final a few weeks ago, they’ve won 3 out of 4 games and have been playing some decent football. This could also be Guy Lacombe’s last match in charge of the Breton’s, so he’ll demand that his players end the campaign on a positive note.

Overall, I feel that Marseille should be too strong, and they’ll be roared on by their own fans desperate for victory. Perhaps if news from elsewhere isn’t favourable then some heads might drop, but I really expect OM to do the business.
It’s a must win encounter and if they play to their best then they’ll be too strong.
