Auxerre v Sochaux 15/11/08 (19:00 cet)

Both of these teams were knocked out of the midweek cup against lower ligue opposition. However, the Coupe de la Ligue was never a priority for either side, so I don’t think it will affect them too badly.

For Sochaux, all their major concerns have been about ligue matters, and it was only last weekend that they managed to obtain their first victory of the season. That success facing Le Mans would’ve given the team an undoubted confidence boost and they’ll be hopeful of getting something out of this game.

Auxerre haven’t been playing too badly recently, especially at home, but have had some problems scoring goals. Jean Fernandez’s men have now failed to do this in 5 of their last 6 games.

Clearly the long term absence of key striker Jelen is starting to have an effect on the team, and they definitely miss his presence. I think this is a difficult game to predict between a couple of very evenly matched teams.

A draw is perhaps the most likely outcome, but I think this is a match best left alone.
